English Farmstead Cheese

English Farmstead Cheese located in Marion, NC separates babies from their mothers shortly after birth and feeds them formula instead. They keep female calves that will be impregnated and used for their breastmilk in the future, while all male calves are sold to other farms and slaughtered for beef.

In order to have lactating mothers, cows are forcibly impregnated through artificial insemination year after year at English Farmstead Cheese, and cows as young as 2 years old are subject to having a human insert their arm into their rectum and inject sperm into their uterus. When the milking heard ages or faces health issues, they are either killed on the farm if they’re “not fit for consumption” or sent to a slaughterhouse to be used for beef.
